The Atrocious Malevolence Of Computer Programs Designed To Bring Destruction

by Albert J. Swizer

One of the things most people hate the most when surfing online is when everything seems to come to a screeching halt or no apparent reason. You'll be on your favorite video site, and suddenly the videos are taking forever to download. There are many things that can cause this, from a slow Internet connection to web site maintenance, but the reason is usually a computer virus of some sort.

They are called viruses because they spread just like the common cold among people. And just like the common cold, you can give them to your friends without even knowing about it, until it's too late. There are basically two different kinds of viruses that you need to know about.

The worst kind are pure evil and malicious software program that want to only erase your data, corrupt your hard drive, or go in and hack it's way into your email list and send itself to all your friends. There is nothing to gain by the developers of these programs other than the sick satisfaction they get by harming others.

The other kind of virus, while not designed to deliberately cause harm, can be just as frustrating. These are usually referred to as adware or spyware. These programs sneak into your machine, and look for personal information, such as browsing habits, your favorite web sites, or anything else that might be helpful to online marketers trying to sell you stuff.

The biggest headache that these cause is that they can slow your computer down to a crawl, as if you've filled your machine up with Elmer's Glue or something. They get inside and hog precious memory and other resources, forcing other software and applications to the back burner.

Fortunately, there are plenty of programs designed specifically to seek and destroy these horrible programs. Most will not only scan and remove them on a regular basis, but will also protect your computer on an ongoing basis, keeping them from installing themselves in the first place. If you don't have one of these software programs working on your computer, it is highly recommended that you get one as soon as possible.
