It's Just The Perfect Day - Wedding Venue Tips

by Ava Mason

A fairytale castle? A country pub? A village hall? Brides spend hours dreaming about their perfect wedding venue but how do you find it? With budgets to stick to and a seemingly endless choice of options choosing a wedding venue is no easy thing. That's why we've put together the perfect guide to make it a whole lot easier

It's all in the numbers - budget, smudgit. Whilst you might not like the fact your perfect day comes down to money - it usually does. Unless of course you are marrying royalty (in which case skip this bit!) Work out your budget and stick to it. And if you've found your dream wedding venue and it really means that much then consider changing the day - midweek, Friday, Sunday - ask your venue if they offer a discounted rate for less popular days.

A time and place for everything - unfortunately, many wedding venues get booked up months or even years in advance. The earlier you make plans the more chance you'll have of securing your perfect venue. There's no harm in calling and asking for a quote.

What's right for you - it's your day not theirs. Repeat over. And over again. It's the mantra of any every discerning bride. Decide on a venue that best suits you. Perhaps it's a full on fairytale in a castle, or a low key line dance in the village hall - whatever is your dream then stick to it - no what your mother says!

The guest list - does that third cousin, twice removed really need to make the guest list? Be strict on the list and you can spend more on the venue. Consider getting married later in the day so you only pay for one meal, rather than the more traditional lunch and evening buffet option.

Ask what's included - most wedding venues have a basic wedding package with additional extras not included. Be clear from the initial discussion with your venue what's included in the packages. If catering is extra then ask for prices.

The first dance - do you want to dance the night away to a jazz band, or rock to Led Zepp - whatever entertainment you dream of then make sure the wedding venue can accommodate it. Decide your entertainment before you book the venue.
